  1. "Este.. otro" is used to compare two elements or to express a preference.
  2. "Uno... otro" is used to indicate reciprocity or to mark differences between two things or actions.

Exceptions!

  1. Both "este" and "otro" must agree in gender and number with the nouns they refer to. "Estos gatos son rápidos, pero otros son lentos."
